What’s more fun than a town-wide Christmas contest? Both businesses and homeowners alike can deck out their buildings in their favorite type of lights, whether it’s string, icicle, or color-changing lights. Visitors and locals alike can even vote for their favorite entry. With this kind of friendly competition, Christmas lights in Oregon have never been more fun.
When strolling through our downtown shops in Cannon Beach on Hemlock Street, take window shopping to another level. Businesses can opt to create window displays that represent their favorite Christmas songs. So, instead of seeing enviable sweaters and clothing, shoppers will see the Little Drummer Boy—or perhaps Michael Buble himself.
Decades ago, the lamp lighting ceremony began with locals dressing up in Victorian garb and gathering in Sandpiper Square. Now, the lamp that they would light continues to ignite the people’s holiday spirits at the end of the year. Visitors can join in on this Cannon Beach tradition to round out their experience of Christmas in Oregon.
