Throughout the weekend, Cannon Beach art galleries will host special events showcasing the artists they represent, with many of the artists on hand to present their latest works.
Two headline events are scheduled for the weekend; Friday night’s Art in Action event and Saturday night’s spotlight concert featuring the Lloyd Jones Struggle at the Coaster Theater.
At the Art in Action event on Friday evening, several professional artists will demonstrate their techniques and create works of art available for purchase during the evening banquet and silent auction. The silent auction that evening will offer attendees the opportunity to bid on unique Cannon Beach experiences, travel packages and other items.
On Saturday, musical performances will be featured throughout town before the Saturday night spotlight concert in the intimate 200-seat Coaster Theater that will showcase journeyman blues artist Lloyd Jones who has forged a 30-year career. He was named to the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and has appeared on stage with blues greats such as Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy and Etta James.
New to this year’s festival is the Dancing in the Rain Fashion Show on Saturday morning. The Coaster Theatre will host the free runway show that will be filled with stormy weather fashions from several local apparel stores and galleries. It will also showcase the hand painted umbrellas from Friday’s Art in Action event.
Cannon Beach is home to over a dozen art galleries and has been named one of “The 100 Best Art Towns in America” by author John Villani in his book by the same title.
Tickets to the Lloyd Jones concert are priced at $35 each and tickets for Art in Action are $55. A limited number of tickets are still available. Tickets for both events can be purchased online and more information can be found here.
