Included in the 2011 celebration were discussions on the ever-changing environment, a two-day art show at the Tolovana Arts Colony, Haystack Rock Awareness Program interpreters, face painting, a pet parade, an Earth to Table Dinner and more. The North Oregon coast's most popular art event is held in early May. In 2011 the Spring Unveiling Art Festival Weekend celebrated its 11th season with thirteen galleries spotlighting new work by more than 30 artists. Unveilings, demos and receptions took place all weekend long, making it a fully-packed event for any art lover. Artwork was revealed for the first time and included virtually every medium from watercolor and oil to sculpture, jewelry design and glass blowing. Sandcastle Day

Marvel at the amazing temporary works of art which will be washed away with the incoming tide or join in the sand sculpting at the annual Sandcastle Day. This is one of the largest sandcastle contests on the west coast, featuring several age divisions, kids through masters. Plein Air is a term derived from the French expression "en plein air," meaning "in the open air." Come watch, ask questions or pick up your own brush as more than two dozen artists create works of art on location throughout the town and the beach. Many will work in the traditional method of plein air painting, while others will sculpt and photograph in their own unique style.
